Visual Representations of Covariance for the Inverse Ocean Modeling Framework

چکیده
This paper describes our progress in developing visualization techniques to explore covariance, especially within the context of the Inverse Ocean Modeling framework. The size and dimensionality of the data make this an interesting challenge. We describe ways to use common visualization techniques, such as color, to explore covariance. We also introduce a new representation for covariance, in which local covariance glyphs are combined in a more global composite view of the full covariance relationship.

Inverse Problems in Imaging Systems and the General Bayesian Inversion Frawework
In this paper, first a great number of inverse problems which arise in instrumentation, in computer imaging systems and in computer vision are presented. Then a common general forward modeling for them is given and the corresponding inversion problem is presented. Then, after showing the inadequacy of the classical analytical and least square methods for these ill posed inverse problems, a Baye...
متن کاملECCO version 4: an integrated framework for non-linear inverse modeling and global ocean state estimation
This paper presents the ECCO v4 non-linear inverse modeling framework and its baseline solution for the evolving ocean state over the period 1992–2011. Both components are publicly available and subjected to regular, automated regression tests. The modeling framework includes sets of global conformal grids, a global model setup, implementations of data constraints and control parameters, an int...
متن کاملOcean Clutter Modeling for Ship Detection
This work addresses the problem of covariance matrix estimation for ocean clutter modeling. For ship detection based on polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (PolSAR) imagery and constant false alarm rate (CFAR) detectors, accurate ocean clutter modeling is essential. The covariance matrix provides all the polarimetric information of the ocean clutter and its estimate is always involved in PolS...
متن کاملDistribution Modeling of Bigeye Tuna (Thunnus obesus Lowe, 1839), Using Satellite Derived Environmental Variables in Indian Ocean
Understanding effects of environment on the distribution of economic fish is a fundamental step in the ecosystem-based management and ultimately a standard approach in management policies. Bigeye tuna (Thunnus obesus) is one of the most important aquatic species harvested in the Indian Ocean. The present study investigated the association of different variables effecting the rate of catch and d...
